Once you get past the cost aspect you'll be even more confused when you find out that a 18 to 20 foot camper isn't going to weigh the 2,000 pounds you need it to with your 3,500 pound tow rating.
As you ponder whether or not to spend the money take a bit of time to read up on payload and towing.
fwiw, I spent 30k on a camper and I camp about 25 nights per year. Still cheaper than a hotel, plane tickets, rental car, food, etc. and I can take my dogs, can't put a price on that :)
