I would recommend that you RENT a RV once or twice BEFORE you jump in with both feet.
Then you can figure out IF RV ownership is for you.
Not to scare you but some things to consider.
You WILL take a hit in mileage, towing anything will require considerably more fuel and that will get you in the pocket book.
You WILL get to your destination SLOWER, towing often takes a bit longer to get there and back, you won't be winning the Indy 500.
You WILL spend a LOT of time prepping your RV for trips, got to load stuff in to go and unload stuff when you get back.
You WILL spend time setting and tearing down, how much of your time are you willing to give up for the amount of work it will take.. We tend to only travel once or twice a year for a couple of weeks.. Not crazy about weekend warrior camping for two or three days for the prep, travel, setup, tear down, travel back home and unpack..
Keep in mind, we DO like our RV and camping but for one or two days, not worth the hassle involved. Would rather get to one place, setup and stay for a couple of weeks.. Makes the work less work and more relaxation for us.. Other folks don't seem to mind the weekend warrior thing, I can't be bothered with it.
Renting although expensive up front for a once or several times will be far cheaper than buying a RV outfitting it then deciding it isn't for you, then losing a lot of money on the resale market.
RVs lose value at an alarming rate.. They are a depreciating asset, not an investment so buy only if you know you will like it and you have the money to spare..
