Mike - I've read your posts for several years and recall some of the issues you've had with trailers you've owned, your dismay with some of them, but I'd have to disagree and say not all used trailers are "rip offs" or abused. Certainly a decent used travel trailer is more difficult to find but IMO that's simply because most TTs live outdoors year 'round and over time are going to show the effects of being exposed to the elements. OTOH good used popups, some 15+ yrs old, certainly do exist - it's just a matter of finding one that's been stored indoors, especially during the damp winter months. I've done it myself, friends of ours have done it - these campers do exist and they sell for significantly less $$$$$ than a brand new model.
Maybe in my area they are rip offs because every used travel trailer or pop up trailer that I've seen was way over price and had water damage or roof damage of some type that would be an expensive repair.
Hek, even some people I know were selling garbage for more than the camper would had been worth if it was in perfect shape.
I believe people over pay by paying MSRP or asking price and not trying to negotiate better prices. Then those people want to pass on how they over paid, to the person buying their used camper.
There you get an over priced camper that these people are unwilling to come down on their price because they reference how much they paid for it.
I found for a few thousand more, I can buy a new camper with a warranty and not have to worry about having a nightmare on my hands (even though that happens with new campers but I'm not spending money on it).
