Using Doug’s idea differently, if you don’t buy an RV, you won’t go anywhere. Your bank book will smile but you won’t.

We use ours way more than we thought we would. No plans for the weekend? go to the local camp ground! i can be set up with beer in hand about 45 min after i clock out on a friday.
After 20 yrs of extensive traveling & camping when our boys were younger we now use our camper FAR LESS than we thought we would. We've camped at just about every provincial park around here within reasonable driving distance so many times we even know many of the sites by memory. Our house lies on a ravine lot so quite frankly we enjoy it just as much as any campsite, we have no annoying neighbours as we sometimes do when camping, the stars are just as bright at night, and everything we need is a few steps away in the house. :B Trying to get a campsite last minute at any campground around here on any weekend during the summer months is next to impossible so there's not much chance of just pick up & go. We still enjoy camping occasionally when friends may also be camping but camping for no other reason than we have no specific plans for the weekend - sorry, not much appeal to that. :R
