I agree, Gerry. They are WAY overpriced for such a specialized use. I would have never bought one new and waited until a used trailer came up for sale.
I looked at the $400 utility trailers for use as a kayak trailer and didn't like the short tongue length, the small wheels, and the overall construction quality. Plus, I didn't want to store a 4x8 trailer at my house.
If I need to haul the items you list, I'll use my truck.
