Keystone Cougar 281BHS reviews

I'm looking at buying a 2015 Cougar 281BHS and looking for feedback, good or bad.

I've been told that if I wait to factory order the middle of August they will be shipping with added upgrades (awning LED lights, etc).

Thanks for any reviews!
  • We love our 2013 31sqb. Some minor things have had to be addressed but I just think that means we are using it. One thing that I'm not impressed with was the grey water capacity. Not sure if your model is set up the same way but it said 54 gallon grey capacity. Well that is true but it is through two seperate tanks. Shower and bathroom sink into one 27 gal tank and kitchen sink into another 27 gal tank. I don't have to tell you which one fills up first and which one hardly ever gets full. Other than that we love it.
  • I bought a new 2012 Keystone Springdale 281 BHS. I previously owned a 2011 Jayco 28bhs. In three years I have had no major issues, there were some minor issues when I purchased (it was a floor model) like drawers will not stay shut in transit whether full or empty. One hinge on a cabinet door continues to strip. Both of these items have been fixed by dealer on several occasions. I even tell them going in this is the 3rd time you have fixed. The normal things that came with the keystone would have been upgrades on Jayco. I think overall quality it is less than the Jayco but I am still happy with it. I use it about 6 times a year two of the times are large group hunts. I love all the xtra room and 60 gallon freshwater tank.

  • I traded in my last unit a Keystone Hornet just last summer it served us well and we never had any issues we owned it for 10 years. Had our family not grown in size we would probably still have it.
  • I've been more than happy with mine Bullet with the same designation.
