Keystone Cougar Half-Ton Series

Hi all! I am new signing up on the forum. I've been getting info here for some time but never had a good reason to sign up. I've had a Dutchmen 28G-SL for some time and just sold it last week. I am now looking at a 2016 Keystone Cougar Half-Ton series 28RBKWE.

I like everything about the trailer but there is one thing bothering me. The slide out does not go completely out to the point where you can fully open the cabinet doors over the tv/entertainment center. It is a cable slide, but I am unable to figure out the brand of it to do some more searching. The salesman is trying to tell me its normal but I'm not buying it. Its the only model they have like it so I am unable to compare.

Here is the floorplan, which obviously shows it all the way out.

Does anyone have any info on this or has anyone see this before?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!!
  • It doesn't look all the way out to me. Not sure, but it seems that if the slide has a depth of say 3', then the outside wall of the slide should be close to 3' from the exterior wall of the coach when fully extended. There should be close to no gap between the trim on the interior side of the slide and the wall.
  • If there is no fix, I would consider removing the doors and installing bungee netting.
  • When looking at the cabinets it looks wrong, when looking at the carpet it looks like the slide is out like it should be. Maybe on this specific unit the cabinets were installed on a Monday or Friday and are wrong....;). Have you searched online at other dealer stock to compare?
  • I wouldn't purchase that trailer if you like to watch TV.
  • More dumb ideas from an RV manufacturer. I'd look at a different trailer. One that is setup and functions normally.
  • That kinda makes no sense. How would an installer or a dealer think that it's normal to not be able to open the cabinet with it mounted like that and the slide opened at it's maximum? If it can't be opened why is it even there?
