The reasoning of picking the F-450 against the RAM 3500 is all about tow weight. The RAM 3500 is rated to tow 30,000 lbs while the F-450 is rated at 24,500. So they were just trying to pick the closest vehicles they could. RAM just decided the 1-ton was good at 30,000 lbs. Really still far apart even though the Ford is supposedly a higher capacity truck.
