I would consider it a high stakes gamble because of the above reasons posted. Unless I could get a guarantee where I could return the generator and exchange it for a replacement (not play the "hope there are still parts around" lotto), I would not consider Kipor, or any other no-name Chinese model.
Instead, I'd probably consider the Champion 75531i, a 3100 watt inverter generator for about $900 + shipping. It might be more expensive than the 2800 watt Kipor, but Champion is a good company when it comes to service and parts.
Unless money is very tight, I'd highly recommend going the yellow route. It shouldn't be that much more than the Kipor.
