Kitchen Drawer Repair

Need a little advice on a drawer repair. Okay..one of the nylon guides broke off the back of one of my drawers. The manufacture is Decorite. The drawer half/way works, just don't pull it out past the back area where the guides are broken. Just wanted any suggestions on a repair other than replacing everything. Like to ask before I start working on something because I know someone has to have gone through this before. Trying to keep things in repair...

  • Go to any camping store or a an RV dealership. They always have a huge selection of drawer parts for RV's.

That's how they stay in business stocking all the parts for RV's that always break!
  • Part received from Home Depot and installed. I took the old one off, pulled up the staples and installed the new one with three small screws. No problem....
  • I might have to go the mechanical route...I looked at several types at the local Lowe's Store. I have this other one on order from HomeDepot.com for less than six bucks.
  • I would suggest to do yourself a favor and install a ball bearing drawer slide. Yes, it will be a bit more work but you won't have to worry about future breakage and the mechanical working will be greatly increased.

Actually, once the position of the slide is determined, it's a matter of installing a few small screws. A small job.

I should have mentioned this: The guide is triangular shaped and there is just one on the bottom besides the catch at the front of the drawer. I will have to check Home Depot to see what they might have in stock. I was at Lowe's this morning.
  • Just go to Home Depot or Lowes, you should be able to find another of the nylon guides.. cheap and lots of choices.
