Knee replacement and truck camper

If you have had a knee replacement and use a truck camper I'm curious if you have any difficulties getting in and out of the TC or the overhead bed area. Only interested in truck camper users.

Thanks
  • I don't have a TC but, I'm responding anyway, sorry.

I had a TKR six years ago. I still climb the ladder to get on the roof of our 96 Southwind, do repairs on my house & garage roof and do basically everything I did before the replacement.
A few months ago I restored the roof on the Southwind.

If you need a new knee, don't put it off. :)
  • Good luck.....and hope you do get replacement

I am in the preverbal 'rock & hard place'

Knee worn out but still functional so no replacement option at this time...saw orthopedic this AM with decision.
    Cortisone shot for now.

I am so tired of the pain ....really was looking forward to new knee.

Wishing you better news come Dec.
    Good Luck!

    Oh I don't have a TC
  • Thanks for the replies. Not sure at this point if the surgeon is going to do the surgery at this time. Should know early in December.

    Thanks again
  • If you are in need of a replacement, you will be MUCH better off after the replacement than you are now---provided you follow instructions and complete your physical therapy. You need to be willing to commit to about 2 months of hard work to heal up right.

If you don't follow instructions, and don't do your physical therapy, you will be back in a couple of years for a revision, because you won't be able to walk.
  • My wife had her knee replaced 4 years ago and lots of trips in the TC since then and not a problem with the TC, riding horses, snowshoeing, hiking or biking and she is in her mid 50s
  • Hi All

Not a problem at all. Good luck with rehab. Work hard and it will pay off

  • The only trouble a friend with knee replacements had was the transition from the ladder to the roof. That's an awkward step over even with good knees.
Otherwise, ten years later and he's still TC'n.
  • Had both mine replaced at the same time, I have no problem at all. Things are so much better than before the knee job.
