I think you should return it and get your money back, if your dealer is amicable. You are right about not being ready for the RV thing.
If a small water leak will dissuade you from RVing then this is clearly not the hobby for you, as you will have many other warranty and non-warranty repairs before you are done. Have you ever bought a new car and had a small water leak or other manufacturer defect? This is normal with something this complex.

First of all, I haven't had a single warranty repair on a car since 1985. I was driving Toyotas and Nissans until last year when I got a Ford Mustang, which also has had no warranty work needed in 10,000 miles. Compared with a sports car, a trailer is dog doo simple. A trailer is not complex.
This is NOT a small leak. Over a hundred gallons of water are trapped between the membrane and floor. Do you seriously believe that to enjoy RV'ing you have to feel good about a brand new, expensive product behaving this way? If so, it's no wonder the RV industry keeps its quality so low. You are willing to accept it.
Just for the record, a house, car, truck, etc. is expected to be defect free when delivered. I am not being unreasonable believing that I have a serious issue. Further, Thor Industries may have built this buggy trailer, but the dealer made a few thousand dollars selling it to me, and like a Ford or GM dealer owes me a good experience.
Since my original post I wrote a letter to my dealer and sent copies to the CEO of Dutchman and Thor, as well as the Better Business Bureau. In researching it I learned that this winter, Dutchman replaced both their CEO and VP Quality. I think I know why.
You may be right about this hobby. I like to tinker and don't mind fixing stuff, but I do expect something that costs over $30,000 to stay dry and actually let me travel with it. I also insist that anything I buy is not just "fixable" but actually defect-free.
Most of the other posts in this thread seem to think I shouldn't accept this as an expected benefit of RV'ing. I got into this because it seems like fun and I thought we could make some new friends and see new places, not deal with *major* leaks. Silly of me.
