KYB Mono Max Shocks

Just ordered a set of these shocks for my 2007 Dodge 2500 CTD. I had Monroes which were too soft, especially when towing my fiver.
Anyone have KYB Mono Max shocks on their TV? If so, how do you like them?
  • see my post in new shocks and yes I am replacing the bills with the KYB"S

For those of you that liked KYB's, what did you like? Better handling in corners, more stability, how about ride comfort over those expansion joints?

Would like to hear your thoughts.

    Thanks,

    *** AND TO ADD ****

If buying again, would it be the KYB's or Bilstein's ??

  • Yes on my Excursion for 14 years now. No issues and like them. Not corroded either after years of beach driving.
  • I had Bilsteins on my TC toting '07 Chevy 3500 SRW. They were okay. I put KYB on my TC toting '05 Chevy dually. I think they are better. I'd buy another set.
  • Loved my Gas-A-Just on my old mustang. Bils on the truck are about same as OEM. In hindsight I wish I had gone MonoMax.

    Please post a trip report...
  • I run them, and they're great. I'm on my 2nd set now. I bought them at Les Schwab so they came with a lifetime parts and labor warranty (think think the parts warranty is standard regardless where you buy). These were an upgrade from the Monroe monotubes I ran previously, which didn't quite have enough rebound damping, and also only lasted me about 30,000 miles a set. I went through 6 sets of those before upgrading.

Like any single-reservoir shock, it is possible to overheat them if you're doing long high-speed off-road driving. That's how I roasted my first set (took about 15 miles). I've been a little gentler on the 2nd set. I've contemplated a set of remote-reservoir Fox shocks, but since the KYBs have the lifetime warranty, I'll just keep getting them swapped when I burn them up.
  • those are great shocks I had a set for 8 yrs and replaced them with Bilstiens I wish I would have got the KYB's again :(
