My wife and I will be camping in the Cherokee National Forest along the Telico River. We will be taking our scooter and riding the Cherohala Skyway, one of our favorite rides, and perhaps swimming in the river.What has everyone else got planned?

I'm not a holiday weekend camper. I'll be getting ready to go the next weekend. I have some minor maintenance/mods to do on the camper. I'll also enjoy having everyone being out of town by going for a few motorcycle rides if the weather holds. ;)

Nowhere since the rv is in the shop! Anyways try to avoid holidays.

Nowhere!!! Our staying home will leave more room for the still working folks! We will be home enjoying the pool while it is still warm! Much prefer camping later in September and October when the temps are more pleasant.Hope all of you who are heading out have a great trip!!

We call all of the three day weekends "Amateur" weekends and stay away. Drunk drivers, inexperienced campers and boaters, and obnoxious people make these weekends challenging and potentially dangerous so we wimp-out. I understand why many go because it is one of the few three day weekends you get off from work, just be careful !!!

Heh, that's my opinion of CA of in general.

Speaking of which, as of Jan. 2015, a new $1 per gal. tax will be implemented. I have a 38 gal. tank. Oh the joy.

Already in Ouray, CO jeeping the 13,000 foot trails. Got to drive in a few inches of snow and 35 degree weather yesterday going over Imogene pass.

Around here, I think it is more about that there are a lot of people who only camp two weekends: 1)Memorial Day weekend, and 2)Labor Day weekend. You miss the majority if you don't go those two weekends.

Why do some of you keep calling people who go camping on a holiday weekend ametuers? Not everyone is retired and can be a full timer. Doesn't mean working people havent done it for years. Sounds elitist.

We won't be camping this weekend but plan to leave in a week or so for Western Wyoming. We are so excited to be on the road again. We live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest so why not stay home during the best part of the year?
