I think I'd go with the telescoping ladder as well. I know what you mean about the stepladder. They are not meant for accessing anything, and are very unstable if you do. My extension ladder is ridiculously long for my trailer, and I was thinking of getting the telescoping ladder myself (thanks for the prompt)! The corner of the roof should be plenty strong enough to rest the ladder against.
