Absolutely right on as far as travel costs and time etc. Manufacturers just can't and very very rarely ever would pay for it. After seeing various issues over the years with just about every manufacturer at one time or another, many of us here have come to the conclusion that the best of them will make things right and things work out if you can bring it to the factory. I am glad Lance has seemingly taken care of your issues and you are now hopefully off camping for many years to come.
For what it is worth, our camper has now been camped in something like 850 nights in 8 years total so I expect the slide has gone in and out something like 1600 times and so far (knock on wood) we've never had a lick of trouble with it. I supposed I should lubricate it again as I have only done it like once or maybe twice in all those years! Yours probably has the newer type with 4 tracks on the sides and from what I have seen those should be a better design than the old ones so if you got the issue lined out it'll probably hold up very well for you.
Good luck. Phoenix has probably gotten cool enough to camp I suppose ;) so get out there and do some!
