Lance 1996 3000 Fridge Issues :::

Hi guys, I have never used my fridge and not sure what is wrong with it other than the "Off - Max" knob on the upper right was just turning so was stripped. It just does not activate. I recently got the furnace working when I looked at the main fuse panel and noticed no fuse in the furnace slot. I took a 15a fuse from the water pump slot and temporarily moved it over and heater fired right up...

So I am wondering about some empty fuse slots and if it just might be the same situation with just needing a fuse..
The fridge is a Dometic Americana..

  • Thanks for all the great responses. I used the fridge in my 94 Lance on gas only but as I say, this one has never operated so not sure but I suspect 2 way. I will check out the 3a fuse and update on any success..
  • I had the same thing happen with the magnatech in our lance.
  • After you get things sorted out, you might consider getting rid of that Magnatek converter and replacing it with a Progressive Dynamics from Best Converter.

    Reason I say that is I had one in my lance and it almost toasted the camper. I didn't know it until I looked below the unit at the floor and the vinyl flooring was charred from the heat.

    PD makes a nice solid state drop in unit that replaces the converter section of a Magnatek.
  • I had a 1994 2-way Dometic with some issues.I replaced the thermistor for temp control and had to replace the circuit board also..Both were only like $129 but it worked like a champ after I did.
  • Good questions by BradW above ... does it work in any mode?

    Looks like from your diagram and the actual fuse panel, the C#3 empty slot may be for the fridge. I suspect though it is just for the inside/panel lights and not the operation of the fridge unit itself but it's worth popping what looks like a 3 amp fuse in the empty slot and see what happens.

    That same slot also seems to control the gas leak detector and water heater lighted switch? Do these work now?
  • Is your frig 3-way?

    gas/12v/120v ?

    We have a 1996 Lance and the Dometic frig recently quit working on 12v. Still works on gas or 120v. The problem ours is the thermostats 12v contacts are shot. I think a new t'stat is $185 or something like that.
