Lance 855S

With some modifications, your truck can handle it. I installed airbags, rear anti-way bar, and put Vision 19.5 wheels with Toyo G rated tires. Did a 3000 mile trip with teenage kids and wife. No problems whatsoever. The camper I have is an Arctic Fox 811 for the shortbed truck. I weighed my truck before and after the camper was on it. Truck weight was around 8K lds. Dry camper weight was 4K lbs. Wet weight we were 13.5K lbs.

A slide camper is likely to overload any SRW truck. If that wasn't the case, I would love to have one. Given the weights you've mentioned you're likely to be close since you have another 1,600 lbs of GVWR that I don't have. I would personally like to have 1,000 lbs for gear after weighing truck and dry camper, and it looks like you don't quite have that but are probably close enough.

If you think that you can be out on the road only mildly overloaded, you may consider it. Also take a look at that Arctic Fox mentioned above as well. It competes strongly with the 855S.

Then again, on my most recent trip I saw a guy with a slide camper on an F250. I guess anything is possible....

Its going out on a limb...a little bit...without seeing any scale weights of truck and camper.
But there is enough history now for the 855S that I'll say you should be fine with your truck in stock configuration.

Check the tires/wheels...that may be your only concern.

Any suspension mods for a 2015 1 ton will be personal preference...I doubt very much they would be required. Many Folks are carrying the 855S on 3/4 tons (with and w/out mods).

Have you looked at AF811 and EC85O also?
You should before you pull the trigger.

I just bought the 2015 deisel GVWR 11500 payload was 4265 lbs? Remember gas was close to it. Is it a 2500 or 3500? Should be fine loaded with options is about 3400 pounds though???

The numbers quoted here by the OP are very similar to my 2011 F-350 6.7L diesel SRW Crew Cab (mine also has the KR trim). Is yours a King Cab?

Yes it is a crew cab. Data is from the chevrolet page for a 4wd SWD HD 3500 diesel. Note I did tell chevy that subtracting the truck weight from the GVWR gave a 4080 lb payload. Not 4265 as is posted and most likely the difference is fuel not being accounted for.

I think your truck will work, others do it and are actually still alive and post on this forum. however you are right on the fence.
Isn't an 855s about 4k# plus, rolling down the road ?
240# for all your stuff and water ? All your fishing EQ, plus the food, 6 gals of water in the water heater, full propane , wife and dog ???
Are your bringing a real person and dog or is it just a picture of them ?

Some people actually add beer to that number and that can really blow the truck apart.
Dry weights do not incl. the campers option list.
I would be more concerned about axle weight ratings opposed to dry weight or payloads because most of the camper weight is carried on the rear axle.
The rear axle is usually the limiting factor.
due to tire and/or wheel ratings.
Maybe some 855s owner with a real CAT scale weight would comment . But I would think a loaded slide camper of any brand is going to be 4k.

If you plan to go on the beach, I don't think the 19.5" tire idea will work. Can't air them down without damage. Most guys that do go with 19.5" for highway travel have a second set of 16/17/18" just for the sand.

If you are comfortable going over your GVWR, the truck will handle a slide camper with some upgrades. If I did not tow, I would have been able to stay with my 18" wheels. Plan on extra suspension aids regardless of camper so your truck rear does not sag.

LOL, 210lbs for the wife and dog.
Probably close to 1000lbs total gear (including the wife and dog) and that'll put us right on the max payload. I'm thinking maybe the 855 without the slide would be a better fit but the axle weights are a concern.
I looked at the specs for the Arctic Fox and they're pretty heavy. We like AF but no dealers here on the East Coast.

Bill Penney carries AF (both NY and NH locations). The AF811 will be ~ 400# heavier than EC850 or Lance 855S with similar options.

You should def look at AF and EC before you sign on the line...
