I have to say it has actually gotten a little bigger than I had originally planned. I knew going in I would have to disassembly all the siding and replace a lot of wood. I even had planned on having to make repairs to the floor but I have reached the point to where I might as well go ahead and replace the whole floor inner and outer. I decided the best way to lift the TC off the floor is to reinstall the jacks and lift the structure as I would to load, only leaving the floor on the ground. I had removed the rear wall so I could get the shower enclosure out, pictures to come when I have time to post, so along with reinforcing the rear of the structure I am working on reinforcing the walls so they will stay in place when the floor is removed.
RoyB I am with you when it comes to going overboard. I have a list of things I either want to upgrade, change, scrap or prep for in the future. I’m having to keep myself in check since it is a 1987 model there are a lot of upgrades that need to happen and since I don’t currently have the money to do everything I want to, I’ll be prepping for things like solar junction block on the roof and prewiring in the roof and walls, installing connectors for a future upgrade to electric jacks and a laundry list of other things, not to mention the DW’s list lol.
We are rebuilding the TC for ourselves and resale is not even a consideration to us. The DW and I tend to keep things till there is no use left in the. I had a 1972 C-10 for over 20 year and the only reason I got another truck was when the transmission went out there was so much rust the cab was about to fall off lol. We looked at several TC’s that were in much better shape than this one but for what they were asking and seeing who knows how many “never had a leak” campers when shopping for our TT we decided to take the cheap one that we knew needed lots of work and make it ours. As most of us here know it is usually really hard to get the quality we put into our own stuff.
I do like looking at RV’s from all over the work and the Australian ones do give a lot of off the grid and off any type of road ideas.
