Wannabegone’, thanks for your great reply, to my question. Not everyone responds as you did, in a fashion that you recognize many are learning from your post. That is what brings me to a post like this. When someone opens up the “Belly of the Beast.” I am there with my camera and notebook, regardless what make or type the camper is. There is value in learning the ins and outs of our campers. Others react differently and feel they are being judged when they are not. Thank you.
I can see the value in your project, as I see that you are using it as a template as you go. This is a very worthy way to approach a renovation. I am a woodworker and have loved building furniture and custom carpentry, in homes, for many years. Sadly, the time and cost is often not realized in a profit world. Especially when you can get something functional, that looks good at a fraction of the cost. This is why I have such an eye for detail, towards our Truck Campers, as I see you have too. As for restoration of cars, I once spent $20k on just removing and replacing rusted pieces in one car. This was before I even started restoring anything else with this vintage race car. Many would have just crushed the car and junked it.
As some other posters have done, I hope you will continue to post your progress on this project. I know I will enjoy watching.
Have fun.
