Ok, I’ll bite. I typically don’t post my D.I.Y., as I am too busy checking out what everyone else is doing. This is something I did a long time ago, due to the doors popping open in the most difficult road conditions, I find myself in. While the Lance latches have something to be desired, my take is that the weight of the things I place in my drawers and on the selves exceed the meager capabilities of the latches that were installed in my Lance Camper. So, my solution was something very simple, a hunk of clothes line cord, tied in a loop (from Lowes) and 60 cent Carabineers (Wal-Mar) and some Eye Screws (Lowes) for 3 cabinet doors, 4 drawers and one Stove Door, all for less than $5. What seems pretty sensible to me, hide the solutions and not mar up the appearance and surfaces of your Truck Camper. I like keeping my camper looking nice.
By just pulling out the cabinet door, or drawer, a couple of inches, you can easily hook and unhook the Clothes Line Cord from the Carabineer. I just install little Eye (bolt) Screws into the inside Cabinet Door or inside Drawer and hook the loop of the Clothes Line Loop that is hanging from another Eye Screw attached on the opposite surface of the Cabinet Door or Drawer.
Those keen of eyes, will notice I have bypassed the Lance Shelf divider Shelf Supports with a wooden batten, dadoed to match the heights of my pots, pans and trays on the individual shelves. These Battens are not screwed or nailed in. The use of Velcro and pressure, from my additional 3/8” Plywood Shelving (Lance doesn’t supply enough shelves!), to stay in place. They don’t move or strip the Plastic Shelf Supports, supplied by Lance this way. I have posted this a few times already, sorry if this is a repeat for many.
For the Oven Door (I store my gourmet skillets (wrapped in sewn towel covers) cookie sheets and extra cutting boards in there and they can become missiles if the door flies open during some of my rough road travels) I simply tie a loop around the handle and a Carabineer is set in the Eye of a Eye Screw that is screwed into the underside of my countertop. Simply hook or unhook the Clothes Line Loop off of the Carabineer.
While we are at it, I have stored things on the bed of my cab over, for a very long time. Some of the roads and grades would encourage things to slide off the Cab Over Mattress, so I have a buttress (1”X6” Stained Pine Board) placed across the opening, to stop this accidental exodus.
To store the Buttress Board, when it is not being used, I just use the Clothes Line Cord, Carabineer, to just hang from the closet rod in the bathroom. This keeps the board from possibly falling, breaking a wall panel, or Vanity Mirror, while retrieving Clothes or moving clothes.
Again, keen of eyes will see the Spring Clamp I use to keep things from sliding back and forth on the Closet Rod installed above my Shower.
Simple things for simple solutions to enhance life out here on the road.
