Propane tank (at home) is a 'permanent' tank (even though it is movable) and is under ASME jurisdiction
Propane cylinders (4# to 40#) are 'portable' cylinders/bottles (not tanks) and are under DOT jurisdiction and require re-certs after 12 yrs. date of mfg. Re-cert can be visual inspection (5 yrs) or actual testing (7-12 yrs)
Horizontal.....
Depends on type/style.
Used as fuel source for forklifts etc. NO re-certs
RVs......DOT....re-certs
For those looking to 'date' their own cylinders. It's not just a date that is applied.
