Lance travel trailer question

Hi all,
I'm interested in a lance TT but all the ones I've looked at have a flat roof whereas most other brands have some arch or curve to allow water to run off. That is a concern to me because I look at the flat roof and think the least bit of settling at the areas around the a/c etc will pool water and eventually leak...I am interested in hearing from Lance owners or any others that might have experienced leaks...
Thanks in advance for any comments as they will be helpful

  • After a year, we've had no issues with our Lance 1685 roof. Great trailer, we love ours (but doesn't everyone love their brand of trailer! :)
  • Lance has been around for a long time.

If you're concerned about a curved (rounded) top roof line ( like I am) you may want to investigate manufacturers that not only have curved roofs but also wrap the roof around the top and down the side wall a few inches where it is secured. No seams on the roof that way.

    Happy trails,
  • Only time to worry about standing water would be when it's leave for camping. Even then how often does it rain when you're camping? When not camping just raise or lower the from so the water will run off easier. Lance makes a pretty solid TT. I wouldn't worry about it.
  • Any roof (even a curved roof) has a potential to leak. Lance uses a one piece TPO roof and they have eliminate many sources for leaks by not using screws to mount things (vents for example) to the roof. Everything is clipped to the roof. Fewer holes that way. Love my Lance model 1985 which I have had for year. No leaks yet.
  • Lance roofs have a barely perceivable curve, like the previous poster said. No problems here with my Lance roof. They do make a great trailer.
  • I have had the Lance for 3 years. Been on the roof many times, installing Maxxairs, cleaning and applying 303, and have not noticed any issues. We did have the skylight leak once, but it was a quality control issue and was fixed under warranty with no issues since. It was a minor leak and the customer service was great.

  • If you look closely, you will notice the roof around the A/C is slightly raised (about 3/4 inch) to prevent water from collecting.

No leaks to report on my Lance.

The roof has a 12 year warranty.
