- Grit_dogNavigator"In the process of researching and investigating, I found that there are no actual shock absorbers controlling each spring. When you look under the truck from the rear, the big coil springs are clearly seen but no shock absorbers .... wha ???"
Look in front of the airbags. You'll find the missing shocks there!
The center shock you're describing is essentially a traction bar to control wheel hop or rotation of the differential. Ram calls it a power hop dampener or something.
If your truck doesn't have rear shocks someone stole em and it would bounce like a rubber ball. - Grit_dogNavigatorThat airbag install looks kinda suspect too.
- Travels_with_YoExplorerSee, I told you I learned something about our truck this week !!!
I don't know why I didn't see them before :R
One of those live and learn days I guess.
I'm going to edit my original post to decrease the number of replies directed at my stupidity. - PhotomikeExplorer III

Stupidity is nothing to be ashamed of. Ignorance is worse. You did something, I know many people that would not look or ask. - Grit_dogNavigatorNo harm, no foul!
On the upside, your truck has the 3rd shock. It looks like a competent design to reduce axle hop in low traction situations. - rexlionExplorerNo doubt about it, you're shocked. ;)
