Length of trailer
When someone says they have a trailer that is, for example, 21 feet long, do they mean the total length from tongue to bumper, or the box length?

Size does matter to some. For example used to park a 5th wheel in our driveway. A real pain to back one of any size in and a couple of feet too long would block our path to the garage. When looking for one I constantly fought salesmen or private owners telling me an inaccurate length. Starting carrying a tape to measure form rear spare tire to very front of hitch.
