I would say critical difference with a 1500. If your truck has the same factory hitch as mine, then you are limited to 500 lbs of tongue weight without a WDH and 1100 lbs of tongue weight with a WDH. Your loaded weight will likely be 5500 lbs with either of those trailers. At 12.5% tongue weight you will be nearly 700 lbs. You will likely want to aim for 15% tongue weight of 825 lbs. Even if you get the weight of the trailer down to 4500 lbs, your tongue weight would be 675 lbs at 15%.
My 1500 with WDH needed an extra leaf spring just to level the truck again. The rear end slouch was too much for my liking.
Just to add a note: Even a very basic WDH with a pair of spring bars and tension chains will work very well for a low weight trailer within the trucks specs.
