Travel Trailers are just following a trend in America for everything to get bigger and bigger. Just compare these things with 30 years ago (or even 20)
Refrigerators Are HUGE now
Furniture..All of it is so huge and for a good reason we as people are getting bigger and our...
Houses...30 years ago Elvis's Graceland was considered a BIG house, a mansion. Now days it's small compared to many tract homes.
TV's (the kind you watch) are one thing that got huge (projection type) then smaller now going huge again
Tow Vehicles Pick Up Trucks. Compare your Dodge 3/4 ton 2500 with the 1970 Dodge and see that it's gotten probably 30% larger.
I am not sure what is driving this overall trend for "supersizing" our stuff. but in the case of RV's I think theres a bit of the male ego involved...feeling like John Wayne astride his horse riding into town when one enters the campground with his 40 foot "fiver". Look at me I'm the Big Dog. I too am skeptical of the "kids" as justification argument. They'd probably be happier outside in a tent away from the parents...I know we were. And had a lot more fun.
Now before I get responses yelling it's a free country and I'll buy what I want Yes yes yes it is I agree and I support that notion. But it never hurts to examine WHY we do the things we do.
