In the future when the repair cost is more than the value of the car then they will buy out the warranty and give you the value of the car. For example, in 15 years when you truck is only worth $2K and your engine blows and costs $5k to replace it you will get the $2K.
All in all I think if you plan to keep the truck for a long time you will get your money's worth. I have the $100 deductible. I can see in 12 years from now have many $500 to $1000 potential repairs.

This is completely correct. I made this same choice last year on my van, and I would gladly make the same choice again today. Electronic components can be very pricey. Do whatever you want, but this was a small cost to pay for peace of mind going forward. In the past I did all of my own car repairs, but the electronic components today are complicated and expensive.
