Lift Kits - I know, I know

On my third truck camper, I have been at it a while so i know what lifting does to the truck. I currently run a 2008 2500hd Diesel with a little arctic fox no slide. I used to pull my boat which i don't plan on doing anymore. The truck is desperately screaming for lift kit when i am running the beaches with my rig. I plan on doing the rear with new spring packs not blocks and a new airbag system. Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with a particular lift kit for the Chevy HD's. I have seen a few that don't look that great. wanted to stay around 4" but can't find any less than 6"
  • Thanks folks, trying to get some more tire under the chevy is tough, in the sand crossing dunes, deep eastern sand and tires down to 15psi or less. half of everything under the truck touches at some point.
  • I've been looking at Rancho Quicklifts for my Explorer. I don't know if they exist for your application. They are relatively simple.

No real reason to lift an IFS truck. It won't give you any more suspension travel and is really just for looks.

    My thoughts exactly.

But, a diesel truck forum will get you more info than here, like was posted earlier, since not many truck camper owners lift their truck.

My truck has a leveling kit and it hasn't really had any problem carrying a 3000 lb camper, but it also has airbags in the rear.

But I also do not and would not own an IFS 4wd heavy duty pickup.

  • The square wheel wells of GM trucks are not friendly to larger wheels. If the OP wants to run taller and fatter tires, the GM has to be lifted to clear without having to trim sheet metal.
  • Have you looked at 4 wheel parts. I get their catalogs all the time and there is always some lift kits for virtually all manufacturers vehicles.
  • What is it on the beach the necessitates running a lift kit?

Regarding lift kits, you will probably get a far better answer about one brand verses another over at www.duramaxforums.com
Why do I say that? because far more people on that forum lift their trucks than member here do.
