In proper English (not PC English), when you don't know the gender, you use the male terms.
Why are you so disturbed by my use of proper English when it is completely irrelevant to the discussion what the OP's gender is? Do the weight ratings change if the truck owner is female?
I question posters used male terms for "proper" English. I am more inclined to believe it is simply jumping to conclusions. I think the OP could really benefit by thought out input, less so on jumping to conclusions.
