load capacity of travel trailers

So I'm pretty new to the whole travel trailer thing and also the numbers and ratings that go along with it.

The trailer that we are interested in has a load capacity of 1150 lbs.

Is this the maximum weight of items we can add inside trailer?

Does this include tanks?

Is this a average weight or is it kind of low?

Whats the average weight that a family of four packs in a trailer for a week of camping? (might be hard to answer)

Thanks a lot!

  • It's basically the difference between the "dry weight" and the GVWR which is the maximum weight the trailer should weigh.

You must be talking about a fairly small trailer as that's a fairly low capacity.

Nice to see another flatlander here.
  • From your load capacity, you need to subtract the weight of the following: water, propane, waste water, after market accessories, televisions, clothing, groceries, and anything else you might put in the RV. By the time you subtract the water and propane, it doesn't leave much for a lot of extras.
