- SidecarFlipExplorer IIIGuess it depends on if you camp in a high crime area. I never lock mine.
- BedlamModeratorI use locks for these reasons:
1. Ensure the turnbuckles do not release by accident
2. Ensure that no one releases my turnbuckle on purpose
3. Ensure that no one takes my turnbuckles for scrap value
These turnbuckles are very convenient with their quick release and fasten feature. I would not have the above worries with a screw type model but would lose that convenience. - AnEv942NomadNot necessary though I do. A simple lynch pin would ensure handle cant release, however unlikely.
- BedlamModeratorThey come with lynch pins which addresses my first concern but not the next two (the human factor).
- SoonDockinExplorer IIThanks, I considered getting some padlocks at HD. Might go for more expensive torklift ones if I feel the need. I have to remove one to fill with fuel so might just keep the lynch pin in that one.
- Fred_n_JoExplorerI agree with Bedlam and will add that my old fingers had difficulty with the some of the lynch pins.
- sd1209ExplorerI lock them just to assure the honest stay that way...Just 4 "keyed alike" locks from Walmart that any real crook could defeat......But I too worry about some pimple faced punk releasing one in a parking lot, although I try to check after every stop.......Same reason I lock and check my pins after stopping and leaving the camper unattended when towing 4 down.......
- BedlamModeratorI'm just eliminating the easy opportunities and know if someone wants to steal something they can. I just try to make my things less convenient than the others around me.
- thedavidzooExplorer IIWe use a set of 4 Masterlocks from HD just the right size and length. The hammered texture even matches the Torklifts. Much cheaper than Torklift locks!
- Buzzcut1Nomad IIthe one advantage to the torklift locks is that there is no exposed shackle that a bolt cutter can get to
