Question , trying to find a decent equipped long bed diesel, new is almost impossible here in Florida.I mean gm, or ram.all I have found are work truck stripped models.what is avaiaibilty like elsrwhere for long bed crew cab diesel models.that are nicely equipped. Actually checking car max is not much better they only have 2dozen nation wide.no that is not a criticising shot At them.or is a long bed diesel crew cab.special order ?

In California same thing. It's getting so that you have to order what you want from the factory.

Here's almost 400 of em but you'll have to find the long beds as the site didn't give that option to weed out the short beds. They carry mostly long beds in the rural areas IMO, short beds for the city guys.

They're common on lots in my neck of the woods but that'd be a heck of a drive back.

Give Dave Smith motors in Kellogg,ID a call. As the largest Ram dealer in North America they have what others can only dream of.You might also look on motors.ebay.com. lots of them there.

In Aug 2014, I went looking for a pickup to replace my 2005 F150 XLT w/ 6.5' box.

I wanted something specific, if I was going to trade. I wanted an F150 w/ the HD package. I also found out the HD pkg only comes on long wheel base trucks. There were none in the Richmond, VA area at all. My local dealer went looking for me. He found 4 up in PA.

I really wanted a Supercrew on a 6.5' box. Unfortunately, only Supercabs on 8' boxes were available.

So I got a 2014 F150 XLT 4x4 Supercab with 8' box & HD pkg. That thing looks long and is long. The cargo capacity is 2250#. My old truck was 1450#.

It is that time of the year as well. The closeout 2015 trucks are getting down to the bottom, especially at the rate the OEM's a selling trucks right now. I had a hard time finding a Chevy LB 3500 in Idaho in Sept. that was loaded up like I wanted (had to drive 8 hours). I could only imagine that right now it will be nearly impossible if your somewhat particular in what you want. Most businesses are making end of year purchases and pickups are common, easy to reduce tax obligation purchases, especially the HD pickups with the higher GVW.

In most suburban/city areas, you will find almost exclusively short bed trucks for the simple fact of people don't want to park that long of a truck in the mall or grocery store parking lot, plus most of them are people movers anyway.

I have the "long bed" F-150 crew cab (6.5' bed as opposed to the normal 5.5' bed) and I have only seen less than a handful, and I live in a metro area of more than 4 million people. I will admit, that extra foot makes me park farther out in the parking lots because it is harder to navigate most parking lots, but at least it minimizes my chance of getting door dings.

More than likely, to get close or exactly like what you want, you're gonna have to special order it. I know that here in Texas, there will be a greater chance of finding a long bed in the more rural farming and ranching communities as opposed to the bigger cities.

I mentioned over the phone to a salesman what options I wanted and mentioned 4WD. He chuckled and said that's a given. Kind of like asking for 4 tires :S

Why not go to a dealer of the make you want and see if they are willing to find what you want within xxx miles of where you are. My local Dodge dealer will do this.

I got my F 250 two wheel drive - but i did order it. never looked back. :C
Yip, that's what I did in very late '03 for my current '04.5. I had it in about 6 weeks. Still working great. However, for any new one I might buy I would rather see one or simmular one before I buy.

are you looking for a dually? or SRW?

Finding a SRW long bed (whether a 2500 or 3500) is going to be difficult - even in a rural area like where I live. Not impossible, just not as common for a dealer standard order for their inventory.

If you're talking dually? 99% of 3500s on my dealer lot are duallys / 4wd / LONGBED / with 5th-goose prep. The only real item to choose is interior trim and if you want the Aisin or 68rfe.
