Still working and with small children is always s challenge for squeezing in as much as possible in the time available. And for some trips long stretches on the road are unavoidable. We have done as much as 12 hours a day with our kids and small grandkids from as young as less than a year and up. Between sleeping and playing games they actually did very well. We made up some score sheets for the older ones to get points for every McDonalds, or Dairy Queen, or train, or bus, or such things they saw to take their mind off the ride. Anything to pass the time.
If you think the kids can do it, go for it. Maybe overnight on the way out but straight thru on the return. That would only cost you on day and not be quite so tired on initial arrival at your destination.
