When my kids were small, I would try and stop at a park every 1-2 hours to let them run around. So, yes, if you want to set up happy memories, break it into 2 days. When we want to cover a lot of ground in a day, we would plan to stay in a hotel. That way you can cover more ground and not have a set up at the end.
