We live in Southern Ontario and have gone all the way west and all the way east with 3 boys and a popup. Did some long drives to get out of Southern Ontario going west, because we were on a limited time frame. But we also did some short days once we got to Banff and again once we got onto Vancouver Island. But the real long drives were reserved for the end of the trip. A real long drive followed by sleeping in your own bed gives you something to look forward to. That could be an option to save/ make up a day.
Hope you have good weather, because packing up wet and then setting up wet is no fun!
The 2 year old will likely sleep once the car is in motion,and the 5 year old will need some amusement.
