I'm just curious how often you check your fluids on long hauls - particularly oil. On my upcoming trip I will be going as much as 600 miles in a day, and I'm not thrilled with the idea running that ...

I've heard the 8.1L uses some oil so I would check it at every fuel stop. It only takes 10-30 seconds for hot oil to return to the sump to get an accurate reading on the dipstick.
Once you "know" an engine and whether or not it consumes oil, I only check it once when on a long trip, kind of mid way to give me peace of mind.
