Long term reliability of GM 8.1 Liter
I'm curious to know what kind of experiences owners of GM's 8.1 liter have had regarding long term reliability/durability. I believe it had the piston slap issue in every year the engine was produced...

130 miles, 2001 Silverado only work done is 2 crankshaft position sensors. The Allison, oil pump, warranty and shift control module. Pull 26 foot travel trailer, snow mobiles, atvs. Rides like a caddy. Plan to be buried in it, foot on the accelerator, blowing through the pearly gates.
