Nifty, It sounds like you need some kind of camper guides to keep your camper centered. Do a search on camper guides on here you will find a whole world of wonderful contraptions to keep the box in the center. I have the Lance guides but there are much better, homemade ones by our forum members. Once installed, your shifting worries are a thing of the past. Hence, no need for jacks.
On a previous trip with my bro and his 1999, F250, ZF6, 4X4, IH 7.3 diesel, OUTFITTER! his tie downs came loose and the OUTFITTER! shifted all the way to the drivers side. He does not have guides. We used my 15K pound winch in a parking lot using a couple 30K pound straps to pull the camper back to the center. It wasn't pretty but it worked. I have one further observation: what do people with a 24-30 foot class C do for service? The same thing I do with a jackless truck camper.
