I fully agree. Something I've wondered. I've heard of a couple of instances where someone with a Hensley hitch had to make an emergency evasive maneuver and survived the situation without cracking up their rig (yes, I'm aware that with a Hensley you can still have a bad accident). One of the things that convinced me to spend the money was the thought that my former hitch, good as it might be properly set up and with all with weights properly distributed, will ultimately fail me if ever and whenever I need to make a sudden evasive maneuver, because any hitch based on friction of some sort will allow the trailer to continue on, independent of the truck's movements. After I reviewed a few pictures and videos on the internet of trailers involved in bad accidents, I decided to spend the money.
