Looking at Jayco & Keystone

Hello,

I am new to the forum.

I am in the market for a hybrid trailer. I've had my eye on the Jayco Jayfeather 7 16xrb. I've read some horrible reviews on Jayco's quality as of late. I have secondly been looking at the Passport 145exp from Keystone. I was told the quality of construction was far superior to Jayco. Does anyone have experience with either brand? I haven't found any reviews specific to the 16xrb or 145exp. Are there any other models that anyone else would recommend in the 3000 lb and under weight that sleeps at least 5? Thank you in advance for your time.

  • First search this Forum for the specific brand and models then do a Google search and put the word `review' after the question.
  • Campfire Time,

Thank you for the response. My local Keystone dealer does not have a 145exp to look at. I like that the Passport has an oven and large fridge. It however is lacking additional seating that the Jayco has. The flooring in the Passport also seems to be "one piece" flooring. It has a rubber roof, which I have read mixed reviews on. I am glad to hear that you've had favorable experiences with Jayco. I've seen quite a few reviews as of late from un happy Jayco customers. You can't always go off reviews. However, I want to make a sound decision before making a large investment.

  • As said, look at both for yourself. When all is said and done the floor plan will probably make your final decision for you.

The Jayco in my sig is our second Jayco hybrid. We purchased new in 2013 and couldn't be happier with it.

Our previous hybrid was an '03 Jayco Kiwi 17a that we bought new and owned for 10 years. No trouble with it at all.

Both did have some minor fit/finish issues when new. Thinks like misaligned bathroom door, the outside door latch on both needed to be adjusted, a loose piece of interior trim on our X20E. Nothing to concerning though. Over all Jayco makes a solid well built trailer.

  • Jayco has always had a better rep than Keystone.
and they sell WAY more hybrids than Keystone.
over the past 11 years i've been on various Hybrid forums, Jayco has always had the most satisfied owners.
i have a Rockwood Roo that i've loved, for 10 years now, though.

looking at both brands YOURSELF is much better than reading internet opinions.
everyone has different opinions of what is quality and finish.

there's no substitute for you looking at them in person.
