No they had leather seats, 4 doors, and what looked like a fold down armrest. And they cost from 45 to 55 thousand. Pretty sure a reg cab work truck would not cost 50K.

I need the performance as well. But since there is no difference in performance really. I want one that is up to date. GM is not. When they catch up, I'll look again. With the way GM vehicles are so out dated. It's no wonder Ford stays on top. GM is only 10 years behind, and if they don't put in a floor shifter. I'll never have one. It's so convenient. Makes maneuvering so much easier.

You were probably looking (since you did not reference any specific models or VINs - if you even went and looked) at 1LT trucks. The dealer probably added leather interior, the convenience and comfort package, rear camera, NAV radio. This would put this 6 passenger truck in the price range you mentioned. It probably had roof-rail air bags for safety, as well as side airbags. Stabilitrack was also standard. Or you could have just looked at 2LT and LTZ and seen the console and things you mention.

As others mentioned, your taste will determine how much you like the interior. The 2014s have different interiors. For my taste, I am looking for functionality and efficiency. The new interior appears more like the competitive models. Would I have to have it? No. Do I like the new efficiency and capabilities? Yes.

So I hope you have made yourself feel better about the truck you own by creating a web bashing. May it provide you reliable, functional and efficient transportation.

That's a big "only" . . . with our previous TV an F250 SRW 6.8L V10, we got 7-9mpg towing. With our current rig, not only do we average 14mpg towing even in mountainous terrain, but we have gained more power and stability with the DRW diesel.

I have a GMC and i somehow started getting stuff from them about the 2014's. I replied to them (Welcome to 2010) as my 2010 Dodge was far nicer inside than my 2011 GM and they just now are getting to that point.

I'd say this thread has ran its course. All that is left is the "my cousin's neighbor had a friend that said"...........

There are great Fords. There are unreliable Fords, even lemons.
There are great GMs. There are unreliable GMs, even lemons.
There are great Rams. There are unreliable Rams, even lemons.
Ditto Toyota, Volvo, BMW, Benz, etc etc etc

Sounds like the chevy 1500 our automation group has at work. None of them will even drive it anymore because it's left each one of them stranded on the side of the road at one point or another. So they drive their own trucks. It's sad to see it rotting away out in the parking lot, but I doubt it'd even start without a jump.

to the O.P. I would keep the truck. I have a 02 F-350 crew cab Lariat dually with the V-10 and I only have 29000 miles on it and I lost the fuel pump on my last camping trip. 300.00 later and doing it myself there is no way I could afford a 60,000.00 truck. It is back on the road and runs great. Yea it is a gasser and I may not be able to do 80 up the hills but I get there just fine. It is like the guy on the freeway that is racing up the road and dodging in and out of traffic and when you get to the off ramp there he is waiting at the light. He got there faster but I still got there. I get 8 1/2 - 9 mpg. pulling my fiver and some of these diesels are only getting 10-14 pulling. I can get a lot of gas for the difference in cost of a new truck. Yea I am jealous I would love one but mine is paid for and staying that way for a long while.

If no the only truck without plugs is the Ram Cummins, no plugs, spark or glow, intake heater much easier to deal with.

You know, your right, I think Ford still uses glow plugs, although in the last 3 years I don't recall ever using them. I just jump in my truck and give the key a quick flip and it starts instantly, even in our Canadian winters, although my truck is kept in a garage most of the time.

Ford has glow plugs, and yes you use them. There is a squiggly figure that lights up till it is ready to start. It only takes a few seconds.

I jump in the truck and turn the key all the way to start which engages the starter immediately and the engine starts right now. I guess the glow plugs could cycle a bit after it starts but I never wait for any squiggly shaped light to turn off first.

I have an 04 F150SCREW 4x4, 72000 miles,, I to have a spark plug concern, But I also have the rear end issue with it,, BUT as of today it has been flawless, Runs great,tows great, plenty of power,,yeah it sounds like a diesel but everything I have read about it all say just drive it,, and I do,, It is comfortable, ok on gas, the only issue is, I should have gotten a larger bed,, but thats my preference,,
Still a good ol truck that owes me nothing!! Gotta love Fords durability!!!
(And I have ALWAYS owned GMCs and Chevy's) Sold a '90 GMC Jimmy 4x4 that was a tank!! nothing could stop it, I ran over 125000 miles on it and sold it to a friend!! Sold a '73 GMC 3/4ton 4x4 long bed lift kit huge tires and roll bar to get the Jimmy........Two elcamino's prior to that!!!
