I like to tell this story to folks after everyone says they need to look at a bigger trailer. I was sitting in a hot tub at Hilton head rv. Made a friend from Canada. He and his wife lived in Quebec and regularly traveled between Canada and South Carolina. They traveled mostly to myrtle but this time they ventured to Hilton head. They also traveled up and down the east coast to other destinations. I asked him about his rig fully expecting to hear about a 45 ft diesel pusher that would tower over my 35 ft fifth wheel. Yea it was an 18 footer. He said it worked perfect for them. Buy the small trailer and run the wheels off it.
