The U-dinette is one of those things you will have to take your family to a dealer and sit at one. Is there enough room to for everyone's legs including the table pedestals, everyone's plates, for everyone to eat, room for games? Who has to get up if the inside person wants out?
I spent some of my young days in a truck camper, they mostly have U-dinette. As mentioned, cramped leg room, and if someone other than the edge needs to get up several people have to move.
Our TT has a booth dinette with the table attached to the wall and a single folding leg. LOTS of leg room, the 3 kids sit on one side, me and DW on the other. When Aunt comes, she sits next to DW and I pull up a stool at the edge.
