I'm not sure as to "versions" you mention, like Turtle stated. Bosch CP.3 has been used in Ram from like 2003 to yet to be released 2013 models. It was also used in DMAX engines from roughly the same period up until MY 2011.
CP.3 pumps will not run as high of a pressure as the new CP.4, but they had a stellar record for non failure. CP.4 didn't enjoy the same success rate although we don't truly know the failure percentage with the CP.4. I would think its low since no recalls have been issued as of yet.
Suggest you also go to the VW forums. Lots and I mean lots of information over there as these Euro vehicles have been using these pumps a couple of years longer than Ford and GM have. I believe they are the single piston pumps though, but same problems.
