Care to state what qualifies you to make such statements? I have 3 VW TDI's, two of them are Touaregs with the exact same pump as in the Ford. They cr*p out. I can think of 5 on Club Touareg from 2009 to 2012 TDI Touaregs here in the USA... and they don't sell a lot of Touaregs here in diesel format. Folks on TDI club estimate the failure rate at 3%, 2009 Jetta's have had a failure rate in excess of 5%, closer to 6%.
Dig in to some NHTSA reports, read every case back from 2009 and 2011, the info is out there, and you'd be singing a different tune.
