Another option is to search for a well-cared for 2006-2007 Sierra 2500 HD with the 6.6, this could replace my current DD as that one is nearing 300K miles and would be a great spare vehicle.
I don't mind traveling the U.S. for a good one, many seem to pop up under $17K with some miles.
