Looking for Light Trailer Recommendations

We just bought our second Passport to pull with our 2004 GMC Sierra 5.3 with 3.73 rear end. Pulled the 245rb at 60mph with no sweat. (btw most travel trailers have ST tires that are speed rated at 60mph max.) We pulled it over 2000 miles and averaged 12.7 mpg last summer and lived in it a total of 9 weeks. Had a great time. We have been very satisfied with the quality of build and the overall appearance of the trailer. When we upgraded we went to a Passport 31re based on the great experience with our first Passport. The new one is 1500 lbs heavier than the other and the truck obviously works harder pulling it but smooths out at about 57mph and feels good. Pulled it to our home near Amarillo from Georgetown and averaged 10.2 mpg but that was climbing over 3000ft in elevation and having a 25mph headwind all the way. Other than that we have not pulled the 31re and expect better mpg and improved speed in better conditions. We have an EAZ equalizer hitch with lift bars and dual sway controls due to the wind in our part of the state. If you have never had a tt the hitch is extremely important for safety and control. Also be mindful of a good brake controller.

Kodiak 200QB is about 3900 lbs dry, has great storage and a nice size stand up shower. We love ours.

When we moved up from Tenting to RVing, our tow vehicle was a 1990 Chevy Van with a 5.8 (350) motor and a 325 rear. Our HTT had a GVWR of 4800lbs. Going up a hill was an adventure to say the least. Always drove watching the temperature gage would have to race down a hill to make it up the next.

In hind sight I should have hand the rear gears changed out.

Not giving advice just real experience.

The Keystone Bullet and Bullet Premier lines are nice. We love our Premier and it tows nice. Traded in a North Trail that did not tow as well for us.

We have a 2011 Nissan Frontier 4x4 with a 4.0L V-6, a 5-speed automatic, a 3.73 rear axle, and a factory tow package with a 6,300-lb tow rating. We towed a 4,800-lb (loaded and weighed on a Cat-Scale) 2012 Rockwood Mini Lite 2109S TT to Alaska and back last summer.

The 2109S is aluminum-framed and vacuum bonded, with a street-side sofa slide and a front, walk-around queen bed. We call it our "motel room on wheels" because it is a 8x18-foot box with a 3-foot long tongue for a 21-foot total length. It came with a very heavy folding dining table that you are supposed to store behind the sofa. We left the table at home and ate on two light-weight TV trays. It made the perfect "couple's trailer" on the Alaska trip because we do very little entertaining and have never had anyone stay in the trailer with us.

The Keystone Bullet 217RBS has a nearly identical floor plan, but weighs about 1000 pounds more, while the Flagstaff Micro-Lite 21FBRS and Palomino Gazelle G-215 are about the same weight as the Rockwood.

As do we. Ours has served us well so far, also. It fits the two of us plus our dachshund, and our 2005 F150 w/ 5.4 pulls it pretty well.

Skyline Koala also makes a trailer that's about 3 feet larger but is still pretty light.

Escape Trailer Industries out of Chilliwack, BC make 100% fiberglass molded trailers in 19-21' models both less than 4000# that will last a lifetime.

We go to shows all the time. They never have the trailers we would like to see since we are in the minority with a 7600lb tow rating. 6 shows never a 28bhs variant, never 25 or 26ft bunkhouse super slides. typical grew wolf, tbuds and salem cruise light but not TT with shallow slides, and nice twin bunks. Hershey, Philly, Edison,AC,Lehigh Valley, and New York. We only go to look at TT construction and what manufacturers to not waste time on. Buyer beware with some of the junk that's made.

Well that just stinks, no full compositec build option either? Thanks for the update. I am glad I got my 2010 Everlite before Evergreen changed building practices. Hope Evergreen reconsiders going back to what sold me on their product in the first place.
