I owned a stick pickup all my life up until 2001, I swore I would ever buy another. I bought my 2001 pickup with a auto Allison tranny, after the first tow I wish I would have stay'd with w stick, why? It keeps the engine at 4000+ RPM when towing, up hill high RPM for torque, downhill in the downhill hold back, very frustrating. With the stick I could keep in the gear I want when I know I am crusting the top. So I compensate long pulls uphill by pulling the shift into a gear I want and go slower to hold about 3000 RPM for the pull. Down hill I am at it's mercy.
If I was to buy a new truck it would be Dodge so I could get the stick.
