Looking for similar floorplan? Double bed + dinette

Hi. New to the forum but have been lurking for a while.

Currently have a pop-up but looking to move to a hardwall TT. We are tying to find a short trailer (~17' total length) with a floor plan that had a double bed and a dinette that converts to a bed.

The Bigfoot 25B175FB is pretty much what we are interested in. However its a little bit heavier than I want and fairly expensive.

I have a V6 Tacoma which has a max tow capacity of 6400 lb but I figure would be more realistically limited to about 3400 lb based on max tongue weight an extra margin of safety.

The dry weight of the Bigfoot is listed as 3275 lb. And once loaded would definitely exceed 3400 lb.

Bigfoot Floorplan

Any other suggestions for a trailer with similar layout but a bit lighter and less expensive? The Airstream Sport 16 is similar and lighter but just as expensive.

  • Rockwood Mini Lites? Maybe something interesting there. We've had 2 Rockwood trailers and very pleased with both...no headaches with either. Would be what I'd consider mid-range in quality and pricing.
  • Take a look at Lance Travel Trailers, they're made great, lightweight and are pretty much bullet proof! They've been in business 50 years and offer a 2 year warranty!

  • I know of 2 models of Jayco Jayflight SLX TT's that fit in well below your goal and are larger (roomier) than the BigFoot you mentioned. The Jayco SLX 185RB and the SLX 195RB models. Both are single axle and designed for pulling with a crossover SUV or a minivan with engine size from 3.0L to a 3.8L V6. Jayco is a family owned huge company located in Middlebury Indiana and been making RV's since 1968, gives a 2 year bumper to hitch warranty, and has a very good reputation. They have been #1 in travel trailer sales for the last 9 straight years.

The 195RB has a N/S front walk around queen bed w/privacy curtain, rear bath w/tub & shower, actual doored good size wardrobe, lots of storage cabinets, side dinette, fridge, microwave, 19.5' floor length, 8'7" exterior ht, interior ht of 73", unloaded wt of 2800, hitch wt of 280, cargo cap of 700 or 3500 lbs GVWR, 26 gal freshwater, 15 gal gray, 9 gal blk, 6 gal HW htr, patio awning, and a lot more.

The 185RB is 1' shorter and has an E/W queen bed and unloaded weight of 2610. The same as the 195RB otherwise.

Price is but a fraction of the Bigfoot price.

I have the 191RB and like it. Likewise looked at r-Pods and found them cramped and little storage space. My prior units were pop-ups.
  • I also looked at R-pods when I bought my Ascend. they were lighter. nuff said.

  • Check out the R-Pods from Forest River. My in-laws have one and love it! Short trailers like your are looking into with low weight. Some even have slides.
